Product Description
Mold Opening Screws – Manual Mold Opening Accessory for KFM Systems
MEPAC Engineering’s trapezoidal screws are precision-engineered accessories designed to facilitate safe and ergonomic opening of injection molds using the KFM mold opening systems. Built for reliability and ease of use, this mechanical solution enables mold halves to be separated manually using a crank-driven trapezoidal screw mechanism, without the need for hydraulic or electrical systems.
The screw assembly consists of robust components including a trapezoidal screw shaft, nut, crank handle, bearing housing, and securing clamps. When installed properly, the device ensures smooth, controlled mold opening and closing — ideal for maintenance, inspection, and repair tasks. The unit is constructed from durable steel and features anti-rotation safety pins, adjustable jaws, and a compact footprint.
Key Features:
- Manual mold opening via crank rotation
- Compatible with KFM mold opening systems and DSP support profiles
- Load balancing through center-mounted jaws
- Secured by locking pins for safe operation
- Quick attachment and removal without special tools
Safe & Practical Mold Handling
Trapezoidal screws allow technicians to safely open molds with weights up to several tons by manually turning the crank, which drives the screw and separates the mold halves. Thanks to the precision threads and bearing housing, the movement remains fluid and controlled throughout the operation. For added safety, all units are fitted with locking pins and clearly marked operator zones.
The system can be mounted either directly onto the mold (via clamp jaws) or to DSP support profiles using a dedicated adapter. This flexibility makes it ideal for toolrooms, service areas, and plastic molding facilities where space and mobility are limited.
Industrial Durability
All parts are made from wear-resistant materials to withstand daily use in demanding environments. With proper maintenance and regular inspection — as outlined in the official manual — the accessory provides long-term reliability and reduces wear on mold components by ensuring smooth, centered movement.
